How much does the course cost?

The total cost for the course is $3,750.00, which includes non-refundable application and enrollment fees.

What's included with tuition?

Your tuition includes:

  • the Focus Sleep School online modules
  • the virtual classroom sessions
  • the in-person sessions
  • the textbook
  • the AASM scoring manual
  • other supplies and materials used during classroom instruction
  • the final exam fee
What's not included with tuition?

Your tuition does not include:

  • any additional (one-on-one) tutoring required
  • any costs associated with travel to the in-person sessions
  • any meals or other expenses while attending the in-person sessions
  • the AASM Introduction to Sleep Medicine for Technologists Module
Are any financial aid or payment plans available?

Payment plans are available after your $500 registration fee is paid, and you are registered. Full tuition is due by the first day of the in-person program.

Where are the in-person sessions located?

The in-person sessions are held at Focus Sleep School, located at 7730 Wolf River Boulevard, Suite 105 in Germantown, Tennessee.

Are there any discount or referral programs available?

Yes!

If you are a former student, we offer a Referral Bonus for each new student you refer to the program.

Representatives of an institution can apply for a discounted tuition rate for your personnel.

Where can I access the pre-course modules?

The pre-course modules, which must be completed prior to the first day of virtual classroom sessions, can be found by logging into your account at https://my.focussleepschool.com.

Where can I access the AASM Introduction to Sleep Medicine for Technologists Modules?

ASTEP is a two-part program. The first part consists of everything we provide at Focus Sleep School. The second part must be completed online at the AASM's website.

Your ASTEP program will not be considered finished until both parts have been completed.

What topics are reviewed during ASTEP?

Focus Sleep School is an ASTEP Intro to Sleep Medicine for Technologists Accredited Course Provider and required to follow these standards. Topics of discussion include:

  • The history of sleep medicine, an overview of sleep disorders, and the role of the sleep technologist
  • Training in patient safety (incorporating infection control technicies; fall precautions; recognizing emergencies)
  • Training in patient communication (how to obtain patient histories; how to manage a difficult patient; patient confidentiality; HIPAA regulations; informed consent)
  • Training in adult and pediatric intake and equipment setup for sleep studies (In-lab polysonography; home sleep apnea testing)
  • Training in polysomnographic recording; diagnostic and treatement equipment; and electrical safety
  • Introductory training to sleep stage scoring and polysomnographic event detection
  • Training on standard polysomnographic procedures (the Multiple Sleep Latency Test; the Maintenance of Wakefulness Test)
  • Training on the application of positive airway pressure and supplemental oxygen
  • Discussion on nocturnal ventilation
